Scheme Qualifications

Forde Training provides the ranges of qualifications to encourage best practice. The awards are assessed to a national standard, allowing employees to develop the skills necessary to perform their role effectively. Under the Environmental Permitting Regulations (EPR) 2007 a permitted facility that receives waste or recycling materials to operate compliantly must have competent personnel.

Who is it For?

Under the CIWM/WAMITAB scheme; Operators must demonstrate competence in the type of facility for which they have responsibility. Managers or Supervisors achieve this by obtaining an Operator Competence Certificate for the type of facility and the type of waste/recyclate that the facility is permitted to receive.

How does it Work?

Under the scheme facilities are listed under Risk headings for each type of facility – candidates achieve the relevant qualification by demonstrating their competence in each appropriate unit of the Certificate, typically these would be:

High Risk – 12 units

An approved Forde Training Services Assessor will be designated to you following the registration process who will offer all the support and guidance to assess you through the qualification. The qualification is assessed ‘on-the-job’ at a suitable environmental services facility which may include working on public highways or other areas accessible by the public or other persons.

Individuals will be required to build a portfolio of evidence which will be assessed against the set WAMITAB standard; the evidence will be collect by carrying out normal day to day duties.

What will I Gain?

On successful completion of these qualifications candidates receive a QCF Certificate of Achievement along with their portfolio which has recorded their achievement to keep as reference.

The Certificate of Technical Competence is awarded by WAMITAB on satisfactory completion of the QCF award and confirms the competence of the candidate in managing licensed facilities in the award category.
