Keep Safe, Keep Training

As we all know COVID-19 is affecting everyone in one way or another.

On a positive note, we are still open and providing all our courses which are classroom based as normal, we have thought hard about how we can help companies, individuals and our own staff in this difficult time when self-isolating, working from home or just feeling nervous about mixing with others.

We have realized that this may be a time where you can expand your knowledge, do some CPD or gain that qualification you have just been too busy to do.

We already have a range of qualifications that can be supported from a distance such as:

  • SQA Level 4 management
  • SQA Level 3 management
  • SQA Level 4 construction manager
  • SQA Level 3 site supervisor
  • SQA Level 4 occupational health and safety
  • CSkills sheeting and cladding*
  • ECITB steel erecting*

All assessment meetings can take place by a video conferencing and for site supervisors and construction managers the site observations can be done at the very end of the course when hopefully all is well.

We are also developing a range of online training courses which will provide an in-house certificate and if applicable the option of sitting in an invigilated exam later to gain a nationally recognize qualification.

These will be announced as they are developed, and we would love to hear from you if there are any specific courses you would like available.

*We have alternative arrangements for observations of these qualifications, please contact us for more details.

Additional specific course information

CSCS cards

It is important that you can get on site whether this is now or after self-isolation, therefore we want to provide every opportunity to make it possible to gain or renew your card. CSCS rules still require you to do the touchscreen test in an approved centre. In light of this, we are reducing the number of tests any one time to place candidates further apart and we have stringent hygiene procedures in place, including cleaning each computer keyboard mouse and desk between every candidate.

For those needing the one-day health and safety course in addition to the touchscreen test, we are open for bookings to attend in a classroom environment; however, there is also the option to complete the CITB Health and Safety awareness course online. The end assessment must still be done in an individual environment as stipulated by the awarding organizations; However, these will be conducted at agreed times with reduced numbers. This will mean that you can still get the necessary qualification with reduced time at the centre reducing your exposure to others.

First aid

For those needing a first aid qualification ,  we are open for bookings to attend in a classroom environment.

Although we are following all guidelines from the government and awarding organisations, we realise that not all companies/candidates want to undertake first aid training currently due to the increased risks associated with such a practical course. If your qualification is due to expire, although you are not a qualified first aider after your expiry; however, we can apply for an extension to the standard 30-day renewal period, for those people needing a two-day refresher instead of a three full three-day course. Please contact us if this applies to you for more details.

We would also like to remind everyone that if you have any symptoms or feel you could have been exposed to the virus please call the office on 01506 862 111 or email sales@fordetrainingservices.co.uk before the course start date to postpone and do not attend.

We will look to reschedule your booking at the earliest opportunity.
