THE AIM OF THE COURSE IS TO:
Our NPORS one day Abrasive Wheels course, which includes practical training in cutting and grinding, equips candidates with the essential skills for the safe selection and mounting of abrasive wheels and cutting discs, in line with official NPORS standards.
THE OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE ARE TO ENABLE DELEGATES TO:

Safely select and mount the appropriate type of disc or wheel for the specific task.

Fully understand their duties and responsibilities related to plant equipment and abrasive wheels under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
WHO DO WE RECOMMEND ATTENDS THE COURSE?
This course is designed for individuals who operate, supervise, or manage the use of abrasive wheels. Suitable for both novice operators and those seeking more hands-on experience.
COURSE SUMMARY
This course aims to provide personnel with in-depth knowledge and hands-on skills necessary for the safe operation, handling, and maintenance of abrasive wheel equipment. The training includes:

Overview of relevant health and safety legislation

Identification of hazards and implementation of risk control measures related to abrasive wheels

Selection and correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Types of abrasive wheel machinery and their safe operation

Selection, marking, identification, and inspection of resin and vitrified bonded abrasive wheels

Proper use, setting, adjustment, and inspection of flanges, guards, and accessories

Conducting pre-use safety checks on machinery

Safe mounting of abrasive wheels on various equipment, including hand-held angle grinders, cut-off saws, and bench grinders

Setting up and safely operating grinders with abrasive wheels

Practical training in cutting operations using a variety of abrasive wheels and equipment

Practical training in grinding operations using a variety of abrasive wheels and equipment

Safe working practices, including the implementation of control measures to reduce health risks
LOCATIONS
Training and testing can be carried out at our training centre, or at your site premises providing site specifications can be met.
COURSE DURATION
1 Day
HEALTH & SAFETY TEST
Candidates are required to have passed the CITB Health, Safety & Environmental test within the past 24 months to obtain the NPORS CSCS Trained Operator card. This test is not mandatory for the Traditional card but can be added upon request.
TESTING / CERTIFICATION
All candidates will complete the Full NPORS Theory & Practical Test and on successful completion will be issued with A 5 year NPORS Traditional Operator card or a 2 year NPORS CSCS Trained Operator card.
