THE AIM OF THE COURSE:
The aim of the CPCS Appointed Person (A61) course is to enable delegates to plan, organize, and oversee lifting operations safely and in accordance with legislation, industry standards, and best practice.
THE OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE ARE TO ENABLE DELEGATES TO:

Understand legal requirements and responsibilities in lifting operations.

Assess sites, identify hazards, and plan controls.

Select suitable cranes, lifting equipment, and accessories.

Calculate key lifting parameters.

Produce compliant lift plans and supporting documentation.

Communicate and coordinate safe lifting activities.
WHO DO WE RECOMMEND ATTENDS THE COURSE?
This course is recommended for anyone responsible for planning, supervising, or coordinating lifting operations, including managers, supervisors, and experienced lifting personnel progressing to an Appointed Person role.
COURSE SUMMARY
Candidates will participate in power point, videos & practical demonstration covering:
- Provides essential knowledge and skills to plan, manage, and oversee lifting operations safely.

Covers legal requirements, industry standards, and responsibilities under LOLER and BS 7121.

Teaches how to assess sites, identify hazards, and apply effective control measures.

Explains crane types, lifting equipment selection, load calculations, and ground assessment.

Guides learners in producing compliant lift plans, RAMS, and safe systems of work.

Includes practical planning exercises and preparation for the CPCS A61 assessments.
LOCATIONS
Training and testing can be carried out at our training centre, or at your site premises providing site specifications can be met.
COURSE DURATION
5 Days
HEALTH & SAFETY TRAINING / TESTING
Managers & Professionals Health & Safety test MUST be passed before a CPCS Technical Test can be Taken.
TESTING / CERTIFICATION
All candidates will complete the Full (Theory & Practical) CPCS Technical Test and on successful completion will be issued with a CPCS Red Trained Operators Card.
