THE AIM OF THE COURSE IS TO:
The aim of the NPORS Cable Avoidance Tool course is to provide candidates with the knowledge and practical skills needed to safely and accurately locate underground services using a Cable Avoidance Tool and Signal Generator (CAT & Genny). The course ensures operators understand how to interpret signals, avoid service strikes, and work in accordance with health and safety regulations, industry best practice, and NPORS standards.
WHO DO WE RECOMMEND ATTENDS THE COURSE?
This course is recommended for anyone involved in excavation, groundwork, or utility installation where there is a risk of striking underground services. It is ideal for groundworkers, plant operators, supervisors, engineers, surveyors, and maintenance personnel who need to locate buried cables and pipes safely. Suitable for both new and experienced operatives who require formal training or NPORS certification.

Training and testing can be carried out at our training centre, or at your site premises providing site specifications can be met.
COURSE DURATION
1 Day
HEALTH & SAFETY TRAINING / TESTING
Candidates are required to have passed the CITB Health, Safety & Environmental test within the past 24 months to obtain the NPORS CSCS Trained Operator card. This test is not mandatory for the Traditional card but can be added upon request.
TESTING / CERTIFICATION
All candidates will complete the Full NPORS Theory & Practical Test and on successful completion will be issued with A 5 year NPORS Traditional Operator card or a 2 year NPORS CSCS Trained Operator card.
