Event Description

THE AIM OF THE COURSE IS TO:

This course delivers both practical and theoretical training on the responsibilities of operating a compact crane, equipping candidates with the knowledge and skills required to meet NPORS standards.

WHO DO WE RECOMMEND ATTENDS THE COURSE?

This course is ideal for construction workers, supervisors, engineers, event staff, maintenance workers, trainers, newly qualified operators, and training providers involved with compact crane operations.

COURSE SUMMARY

  • Understand the plant industry and operator’s role.

  • Know crane components, controls, and terms.

  • Follow handbook, guidance, and legislation.

  • Use and complete required documentation.

  • Perform all pre-use checks.

  • Configure for travel, move to site, and manoeuvre safely.

  • Set up for lifting, deploy outriggers, and programme RCI/LMI.

  • Identify load weights and centres of gravity.

  • Use jib extensions correctly and within limits.

  • Recognise hazards (overhead/underground).

  • Safely lift, move, slew, and place loads.

  • Control swing and follow signals/instructions.

  • Travel with loads if authorised.

  • Select proper lifting accessories and note slinging limits.

  • Shut down, secure, load/unload, or tow as required.

    This training course includes the following endorsements:

    • A – Static Stabilisers

    • B – 360 Pick and Carry

    • C – Pedestrian Operated

LOCATIONS

Training and testing can be carried out at our training centre, or at your site premises providing site specifications can be met.

COURSE DURATION

1-5 days depending on experience and candidate numbers

HEALTH & SAFETY TRAINING / TESTING

Candidates are required to have passed the CITB Health, Safety & Environmental test within the past 24 months to obtain the NPORS CSCS Trained Operator card. This test is not mandatory for the Traditional card but can be added upon request.

TESTING / CERTIFICATION

All candidates will complete the Full NPORS Theory & Practical Test and on successful completion will be issued with A 5 year NPORS Traditional Operator card or a 2 year NPORS CSCS Trained Operator card.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Forde Training is a registered ATO and can automatically claim any applicable grants upon successful completion of this course. Please ensure that your company is registered with CITB when booking, so we can process the grant claim.
