Driver CPC Training Information
Driver CPC (Driver Certificate of Professional Competence) is a mandatory qualification for professional drivers. It is a set of standards covering both initial driver training and ongoing professional development throughout a driver’s career.
Introduced by the European Union, Driver CPC ensures that all professional drivers remain competent, skilled, and up to date with current regulations and best practices.
CPC certification is a legal requirement for most drivers holding:
- Category C (lorry) licences
- Category D (bus/coach) licences
The UK Government advises that drivers in these categories should assume CPC certification is required to drive professionally. Anyone unsure about exemptions should seek appropriate advice.
Initial Driver CPC Qualification
New drivers applying for their first Category C or D licence must complete a comprehensive training programme, which includes:
- Initial CPC training
- Theory test preparation
- Practical driver training
- Two practical driving tests
These elements together form the initial CPC qualification, which is required before a commercial driving licence can be obtained.
Periodic CPC Training
Once qualified, drivers must complete 35 hours of periodic training every 5 years to maintain their CPC.
Our training courses are delivered as one module per day, making it easy to build up your required hours in manageable sessions.
To attend, all participants must hold a valid Professional Driver Licence.

Please note:
- Training modules cannot be repeated within the same 5-year cycle
