THE AIM OF THE COURSE
The aim of this Emergency First Aid at Work (1 Day) course is to provide participants with the essential knowledge and practical skills required to respond to common workplace medical emergencies. The course enables learners to provide immediate first aid, manage minor injuries and life-threatening situations, and assist casualties until professional medical help arrives. Participants will develop the confidence to assess emergency situations quickly and deliver effective first aid in line with workplace health and safety requirements.
WHO DO WE RECOMMEND ATTENDS THE COURSE?
This course is recommended for:
- Employees appointed as Emergency First Aiders in the workplace
- Supervisors and managers responsible for workplace safety
- Health and safety representatives
- Employees working in low-risk environments
- Anyone who may be required to provide basic first aid in workplace emergencies
This qualification is suitable for organisations that require a designated emergency first aider in accordance with workplace health and safety guidelines.
COURSE SUMMARY
This course provides the essential knowledge and practical skills required to deal with emergency first aid situations in the workplace.
The course covers:
- Roles and responsibilities of an emergency first aider
- Assessing an emergency situation safely
- Adult CPR and use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
- Management of an unconscious casualty
- Treatment of choking
- Control of bleeding and shock
- Treatment of minor injuries such as cuts, bruises, burns, and splinters
- Recognition of serious medical emergencies such as heart attacks
- Incident recording and reporting procedures
The course focuses on rapid response, effective treatment, and confident decision-making in emergency situations.
THEORY & PRACTICAL ASSESSMENTS
Participants will complete a combination of practical demonstrations, scenario-based exercises, and theoretical assessments throughout the course to ensure competence in emergency first aid procedures.

COURSE DURATION

TESTING / CERTIFICATION
All candidates will complete the Full (Theory & Practical) Emergency First Aid at Work Assessment.
Upon successful completion, candidates will receive an Emergency First Aid at Work Certificate, valid for 3 years, in accordance with workplace first aid requirements.
