THE AIM OF THE COURSE
The aim of this First Aid at Work (2 Day Refresher) course is to update and reinforce participants’ existing knowledge, confidence, and practical skills required to effectively respond to workplace medical emergencies. The course refreshes learners’ ability to administer immediate first aid, manage injuries and illnesses, and remain compliant with current workplace health and safety regulations. Participants will strengthen their competence in assessing situations, delivering appropriate treatment, and supporting casualties until professional medical help arrives.

COURSE SUMMARY
This refresher course revisits essential knowledge and practical skills required to act as a workplace first aider.
The course covers:
- Roles and responsibilities of a workplace first aider
- Assessing emergency situations safely and effectively
- Adult CPR and use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
- Management of unconscious casualties
- Treatment of bleeding, wounds, burns, and shock
- Recognition and management of heart attacks and strokes
- Treatment of choking and breathing difficulties
- Management of fractures, sprains, and spinal injuries
- Treatment of minor injuries and medical conditions
- Dealing with seizures, diabetic emergencies, allergic reactions, and asthma
- Incident recording and reporting procedures
The course focuses on refreshing skills, reinforcing correct techniques, and maintaining confidence in emergency response situations.
THEORY & PRACTICAL ASSESSMENTS
Participants will complete a combination of practical demonstrations, scenario-based exercises, and theoretical assessments to confirm continued competence in first aid procedures.

COURSE DURATION

TESTING / CERTIFICATION
All candidates will complete a First Aid at Work Refresher Assessment (theory and practical).
Upon successful completion, candidates will receive a renewed First Aid at Work Certificate, valid for a further 3 years, in line with workplace first aid requirements.
