THE AIM OF THE COURSE IS TO:
To provide the candidate with the theoretical and practical knowledge required to operate in accordance with NPORS standards, including preparation for vehicle movement and guidance, effective communication, awareness of plant hazards and ground conditions, as well as work area layout and positioning as part of a traffic management plan.
WHO DO WE RECOMMEND ATTENDS THE COURSE?
Vehicle marshal training is vital for anyone involved in directing on-site vehicle movements, especially in high-risk areas like construction. It equips individuals with the skills to manage traffic safely and reduce accidents.
COURSE SUMMARY
To equip personnel with the essential knowledge and practical skills required for the safe direction, control, and management of vehicle movements on-site. Training covers:
- Relevant Health and Safety regulations
- Common causes of accidents and their associated costs
- Company-specific procedures for vehicle manoeuvring
- Responsibilities and duties of the banksman/signaller and the driver
- Conducting and understanding risk assessments
- Familiarisation with the vehicle and its controls
- Key site considerations including ground conditions, nearby hazards, and the presence of other vehicles
- Recognising, understanding, and confirming the correct use of hand signals and signage
- Appropriate selection and use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- NPORS Theory & Practical Assessments

Training and testing can be carried out at our training centre, or at your site premises providing site specifications can be met.
COURSE DURATION
1 Day
HEALTH & SAFETY TEST
Candidates are required to have passed the CITB Health, Safety & Environmental test within the past 24 months to obtain the NPORS CSCS Trained Operator card. This test is not mandatory for the Traditional card but can be added upon request.
TESTING / CERTIFICATION
All candidates will complete the Full NPORS Theory & Practical Test and on successful completion will be issued with A 5 year NPORS Traditional Operator card or a 2 year NPORS CSCS Trained Operator card.
